Mickey Mouse Birthday Cake

This cake was made for Demetris, an adorable two year old boy!  I hope he likes it. His mother told me that he likes Mickey Mouse very much!

Here you can see the cake decoration steps.
I used buttercream, in order to make the surface of the cake smooth.

This cake took me 3 hours to decorate it. The black part was the hardest to finish. I used wilton's black decoratcing icing.
Happy Birthday Demetri!!!

  3. I imagine this was some effort to make with all those stars of icing on there. Also getting around between the inital black lines would not be easy. Yet, with your expertise you sailed through with yet another lovely cake. I hope you are there when Demetri gets it, nothing says thank you better than a smile on a childs face!

  7. Hello Ann. Thank you for your nice comments. This cake, in Greek, is called "Doukissa" or "Kormos". The ingredients I use are: butter, icing sugar, cocoa powder, eggs, vanilla sugar, brandy and plain biscuits. It does not need baking but it needs to be refrigerated over night. I found similar recipes in English called "Chocolate Salami".

  17. Try the "Chocolate Cake with Banana" http://www.dreamofcakes.net/2008/09/chocolate-cake-with-banana.html
You can add rasins and walnuts if you want. Forget my chocolate frosting. You can use your vanilla frost, it will be equally delicious. Vanilla, bananas and chocolate are a very good combination. Good Luck!! I hope he likes it.

  22. Cake decorating is art that is performed in places all over the world. That is why contests and baking show competitions are very popular, especially in the Western World. Cake decorating is one of the sugar arts that uses icing or frosting and other edible decorative elements to make plain cakes more visually interesting. Alternatively, cakes can be molded and sculpted to resemble three-dimensional persons, places and things.

  24. Being that Mickey Mouse is a popular cartoon character among kids, this serves as a spectacular birthday cake for kids, and the family overall. To make this a family activity, kids can share in the hands on experience by helping to decorate the cake, and see there favorite cartoon character come to life in front of there own eyes. This idea is wonderful, and definitely worth sharing, so thank you for doing so. Christmas is right around the corner, and I will most certainly bake this cake and have my twin nephews be apart of it. I'm sure they'll find it fun, and yummy at the same time. Thanks again!
